A Measure of the Sea

Presented by 'The Scylla Collective', A Measure of the Sea is a collection of performance works that intertwine Queer ecology with timeless mythology, in a deep dive exploration of our interconnectedness with the ocean. Each piece within this collection serves as a reflection, both personal and universal, on humanity's intricate relationship with the vast expanse of the ocean and all that resides within its depths.

My fascination with material dramaturgy led me to incorporate water as an active performer, allowing it to perform on its own accord. By exploring the heritage and profound connection Icelanders have with the ocean, I translated our intricate dependence on it into the piece, imagining the water as the lifeblood of the living structure; the metaphorical space mother nature provides for us.
